Hibino Kodue's "Celebration Crest" tenugui is dyed by skilled craftsmen using traditional Kyoto techniques. It uses a tenugui fabric called "Tokuoka," which is known for its smooth texture.
This is an example of one delivery. It comes with a mini letter with the title and story of the design.
There are a lot of lovely patterns with cute titles such as "Chat," "Flowers," "House," "Daily Life," etc. When you think that all of them are "works by Kozue Hibino," it's even more fun to use them. What's more, it's also nice that the patterns are auspicious. It makes you feel good to use them.
Use it to line a basket or hang it to keep out dust. Tenugui fabric dries quickly, so it's also great for use in the kitchen.
It's also fun to use it as a table centerpiece or placemat.
It takes a lot of time and effort, and the skilled craftsmen use their skills and intuition to dye each piece carefully. They use a technique called "Kyoto Yuzen penetration dyeing," which has excellent color development and allows the dye to penetrate all the way to the back of the fabric, allowing the dye to be clearly dyed even with the outlines of intricate patterns.
[Social Good! (Social Good)...Things and things that have a positive impact on the global environment and society] LOVE Culture, LOVE Story... Who's Note also focuses on "evolving traditions and cultures". We have (had) such wonderful cultures, but it is shocking to see that they are disappearing. Among the many such items and techniques, tenugui, which have been widely used as a daily necessity for the common people since the Edo period, may be a valuable item that continues to be loved even today. Fu, the owner of Who's Note, is also a "tenugui collector", and I think tenugui are really well-made items. There is not a day that goes by without using them, whether it be as a handkerchief or to wipe dishes. This tenugui is based on the concept of "enjoying celebratory patterns". "Celebratory patterns" are decorative patterns depicting animals, plants, objects, etc. that are considered to be auspicious. Traditional and classic patterns are good, but one line, one color... A pattern drawn by an artist with a new interpretation and heartfelt effort is very nice. (Fu is a big fan of Kozue Hibino) A new tradition that evolves with the times, nice!
*We may deliver the same pattern in different colors.
