[Fukuroya Towel] A long-established towel manufacturer founded 95 years ago. Mr. Fukurodani, who has been drawing pictures since he was a student and has been fond of making things, is the 5th generation of Fukurodani Towel. While inheriting the towel-making process of our predecessor, we are taking on the challenge of creating new towels. .
[Senshu vegetable all-stars on towels] Fukurodani Towel's factory brand "Shizuku?SHIZUKU?" The towels are dyed with natural dyes extracted from the leather. It is an initiative to collaborate with agriculture, a local industry, and Senshu towels. What's more, they are vegetables that are discarded for various reasons, such as those that are not suitable for sale due to scratches and irregular shapes, and "carrot juice residue". The representative of Fukurodani Towel says, "It's very exciting and fun to create new value by exchanging ideas together beyond the barriers between industries. Through this kind of approach, we can appreciate the wonderfulness of the Senshu area. I hope that it will lead to opportunities that spread across the country.”
This time, we will introduce 6 types picked up from the "Shizuku Series". We will deliver two types as a set.
[Water eggplant dyeing] Water eggplant is delicious to eat raw, but Senshu is famous for “water eggplant pickles”. For the dye, we use what was said to be "not suitable for sale due to its bad shape" by the producer of Mizunasu for "Mizunasu no Asazuke" by Makoto Shoten, "Senshu Specialty Mizunasuzuke Honpo". We divide the skin and the fruit into two colors, purple and light yellow.
[Saiho carrot dyeing] Premium carrots born in Kishiwada City, Osaka Prefecture. It's called the "shocking carrot" because of its fruit-like sweetness and refreshing taste. The color extracted from the "squeezed lees" of the juice made from Saiho carrots has been dyed into a bright carrot orange.
[Onion dyeing] "Iteya Farm" is a famous farmhouse in Senshu, so much so that it has been nominated by a restaurant that has won a Michelin star. And surprisingly, the owner, Mr. Sagitaya, is a friend of Mr. Fukuroya. While talking about production and sales, he said, "Even if you grow delicious vegetables, if they are in bad shape, they won't be distributed. It's a waste, so I want someone who understands..." Mr. Fukurodani decided to use onions that were not suitable for sale because they were damaged or slightly discolored.
[Matsunami Cabbage Dye] Iiteya Farm's "Matsunami Cabbage" is also purchased by famous okonomiyaki shops. Sweet to the core! And the chefs are also delicious. By the way, once a year at Iteya Farm, not only producers, but also chefs who love specialty cabbages, restaurant workers, vegetable sommeliers, and, of course, representatives and employees of Fukurodani Towel participate in the Harvest Festival. "There seems to be. And after everyone harvests, the large outer leaves that remain in the field become raw materials for dyes! It's a gentle color filled with everyone's "local love".
[Shizuku Towel Birth Story] Mr. Fukuroya and the second-generation owner of "Makoto Shoten" who appeared in "Mizunasu Dye" are actually cousins. Mr. Fukuroya, who had always wanted to make purple towels, said to Makoto Shoten, "Because they are easy to get." Therefore, we started a color test using eggplants that were said to be "bad in shape and unsuitable for sale" by producers of mizunasu. While doing so, the cousin will get married ...
... then! Mr. Fukurodani is very enthusiastic. Aiming to turn the prototype into a "gift", they completed the "water eggplant dyed towel", a basket set of purple dyed with leather and pale yellow dyed with fruit. (Is there anything more suitable for a wedding gift for the owner of Mizunasu-zuke Honpo?!) And this loving "Mizunasu dyed towel" was the first step in creating the "Shizuku series". (Moreover, after that, the basket set was offered at the "Osaka Summit"!)
Foods Note introduces 6 types of hand towels and 3 types of kitchen towels from Fukurodani Towel's "Shizuku Series".
