I was attracted to the atmosphere of the town called "Yamatokoriyama", and while I was commuting from Osaka to shoot, I wanted a "reason to be there" and started shooting goldfish. So, I needed knowledge about goldfish and the history of goldfish, so when I started studying, it became more and more interesting...
Now, goldfish have become my "existence that satisfies my intellectual curiosity." I like to photograph the shape, movement and occasional emotional expressions of goldfish. And while I was working as a goldfish artist, working as a goldfish photographer and creating works with goldfish photographs as a motif, I rapidly spread various connections. So, for me, goldfish are also an image of good luck. Goldfish may be something that connects me with people.
[From Fu, the owner of Foods Note] Yamatokoriyama City in Nara is famous for its production of goldfish. With the media coverage of the annual All-Japan Goldfish Scooping Tournament, the town of Yamatokoriyama, known as the "Town of Goldfish, Yamatokoriyama," is gaining popularity recently. It seems that the number of tourists is also increasing. The Goldfish Scooping Dojo (sacred place for goldfish scooping), where you can hone your skills for competitions, and the souvenir shop where you can scoop goldfish at any time are also popular spots.
