青森を代表する郷土玩具、八幡馬（やわたうま）。青森県八戸市を中心とする南部地方で古くから作られ、現在では子どもや家族のしあわせを願う愛情溢れる民芸品として親しまれています。
手のひらサイズの八幡馬に自由に絵付けして、世界でひとつの八幡馬を作ってみませんか。監修は株式会社八幡馬さん。通常は職人さんが手作業で切り出しから絵付けまで仕上げるところを、こちらはあえて未完成の状態でお届け。下地処理済みで、お手持ちのアクリル絵の具できれいに絵付けを楽しめます。あとは付属の毛でたてがみやしっぽを付けたら完成。天然の木肌を生かして未塗装のまま飾ってもいいですね。削りを加えたり、毛糸や布でアレンジしたりと、気ままに挑戦してみてください。
