Top with sweets such as amber sugar.
It's also cute as a temporary place to store small items and accessories.
The original sweets have been redesigned.
This is a confectionery sample book in which Ishihara Tomijiro, the seventh generation owner of Tawaraya Yoshitomi, a Kyoto confectionery shop founded in 1755, wrote down his ideas for sweets. The sweets, intricately drawn with gofun (whitewash), are like works of art. Many of the sweets are themed around the seasons or famous places in waka poetry, with themes hidden in the colors and shapes. Tomijiro's signature confection, Unryu, is still available for purchase today. Source: Ishihara Tomijiro, Tawaraya Selected Confections (1), Tawaraya Yoshitomizo (1970)
