We made a tote bag using sashiko fabric from Kusakura, a long-established judo uniform manufacturer in Osaka founded in 1918. Of the many sashiko fabrics available, we chose a single-ply fabric that is both durable and lightweight. Another attractive feature is that it becomes softer and more comfortable with use. The long handle makes it easy to carry over the shoulder, and the bottom gusset makes it easy to put in a lunch box. The two large Pocket on the outside are made of sashiko fabric with a floating lattice pattern. It is woven slowly on a rare double-beam shuttle loom while allowing air to enter, giving it a unique fluffy feel. The simple beauty fits in with everyday scenes such as work, lessons, shopping, and leisure.
The downside of off-white bags is that they get dirty, but one idea is to give them a new appeal with the black dyeing service from "Kyoto Montsuki." Please apply using the 2D code on the inside tag of the bag (*Additional fees apply). The deep black of the "shinkuro processing," which is a method of dyeing montsuki hakama that pursues black dyeing alone, is also exceptional.
